Introduction
I was contacted by Shannon, the general manager at the Arizona Party Bike. I was asked to design several digital slides for the televisions in their booze room (front office). I recieved a bullet point list with notes regarding each slide project. After I completed a project I sent over my designs for feedback and moved onto the next project on the list.
Meet Our Captains
I was asked to design templates for the Party Bike Captains. The client wanted the templates to showcase 3 captains per page. The template also needed to include the captain’s names, photos , hometowns, spirit animals, fun fact, hobbies and why they love Old Town. I broke the designs into 4 page templates. The first slide of every set of 3 captains has the Captain's’ names, photos, and hometowns. The other 3 slides have the Captain's’ names, photos, a question and the captains answers. For the design I…
Partner Bar Specials
For this project I was given a list of the partner bars and their bar specials for the Arizona Park Bike customers.
My idea for the designs was a desert themed. I wanted to have fun with the design but keep it on theme with the Southwestern flare of Old Town Scottsdale. I designed some cactus icons for the foreground and added a low opacity yellow circle to represent a setting sun. The most important aspects of the design are the bars and their specials; I made sure to emphasize them. The bar names are surrounded by black border and the specials are in the center of the “sun”.
Partner Bars:
Pattie's
Boondocks
Hot Chick
Social Tap
Rock Bar
Blue Clover Distillery
Schmooze
Scottsdale Wine Girl
Porters Western Saloon
BS West
50 Shades of Rose
Social Media Template
For this project I was given QR codes to Arizona Party Bike’s Instagrand and Tiktok. As well as the text and heading. With that, I was asked to create a video template with a border for the QR Codes.
For the design I decided to showcase the QR codes on the left for easy viewing but to not distract from the videos. I added scrolling text at the bottom to keep more space for the videos.
Partner Bar Video Template
I was asked to create a template for the Arizona Party Bike’s partner bars. It needed to included a vertical bar partner video with border that includes partner name, bar specials, and QR Code.
For the design I kept it simple with red and white. For the border, I chose a red border on the left with a shadow to stand out and a dark red scrolling text box at the bottom. I chose to make the heading dark red to further separate the two sections. I also added drink icons to make the design playful and keep the all slide designs fairly consistent.
Booze Store Menu
I was asked to redesign the booze store menu. My first iteration included more non-alcoholic options- coffee, gatorade, redbull, etc. I was asked to remove them and keep only the non-alcoholic alcohol.
The original design was lots of text. So, for the redesign I had to figure out how to improve the design around all the text. I decided to categorize the drinks into 3 categories instead of the original 5. I divided the categories further by alcohol and non-alcoholic. I chose to highlight the non-alcoholic drinks in pink so they are easy to find but don’t overpower. I decided to add drink icons as visual aids and to make the design more fun.
Tripadvisor Review Template
I was asked to create a Tripadvisor review template for 3 reviews. I was provided the heading, and subtext.
For the design I decided to add a border to this slide as well to hold the subtext and the a QR code for the Arizona PArty Bike’s Tripadvisor page. Once again, I added a scrolling text bar to the bottom.
Party Bike Safety Tips
I was asked to create a slide for the safety and tips for the bike. I was provided with the heading and all the text.
For the design I decided on creating a infograph. I wanted the tips to be visual first, text second. I kept the icons simple, using just black, red and white. I added animation to the icons to make them easier to draw the eye and to understand. I also highlighted the important text in red to draw the eye and emphasis it’s importance.
Don’t Forget
I was asked to create an informative slide that helps guests stay prepared so they can have a better time. I was provided with the heading and all the text.
For the design I decided to create another inforgraph. I decided to add more colors and animation to the icons; to help guests understand visually. I also highlighted the important text in red to draw the eye and emphasis it’s importance.
F.A.Q’s
I was asked to create a slide that helped guests answer their 3 frequently asked questions. I was provided with all the text.
For the design I created an infograph that visually aids guests on the restrooms, bars and bike ride. I made the answers red to draw the eye. I also had to create all the icons for the perfect representation.
Checking In
I was asked to created a slide that expedited the checking in process for guests. I was provided with all the text.
For the design I numbered the steps and added large icons for better visual comprehension. I highlighted the important text in red to draw the eye and emphasis it’s importance.
Pre-Party Bike Photo Checklist
I was asked to displey 3 pictures (the mural, the photo wall, and front of the bike) and number the pictures. I was provided with the heading, the text and the images.
For the design I added a border with a QR code to the Arizona Party Bike’s instagram. I made the border dark red to stand out and break up the slide into sections. I added a camera icon to emphasize and visually represent the photo opportunities. Once again I added a scrolling text at the bottom to remind guests to tag the Arizona Party Bike in their photos
Conclusion
All in All
I was really excited about this project. I was excited at the opportunity to work with a company but to also utilize my skills and show them my ideas. Shannon and Michelle were my main points of contact and they were really thorough and gave easy to understand feedback.
With this project I was able to learn and work with a new platform, Optisign. I had never worked with digital signage prior to this project but I got the hang of Optisigns quickly and was able to complete each slide with ease.
I am so happy I got the chance to work with an actual client and learn a new platform, learn some new skills and hone my existing ones.
